More food options are set to appear in Vancouver parks and beach this summer.

Two years after launching a pilot program, the Vancouver Park Board announced today (June 10) that 11 food carts have been granted permits for 15 sites.

This year’s vendors include BerryMobile, a fresh-fruit stand that will have locations at Second Beach and Lumberman’s Arch in Stanley Park, and a third location at Spanish Banks. Also in Stanley Park by the information booth is popular Vancouver-based hot-dog chain, Japadog.

Just outside of Stanley Park, Roaming Popcorn and the San Juan Family Farm food truck will operate at Devonian Park. San Juan, which sells fresh-fruit smoothies and Bolivian tacos, will have a second food truck at English Bay.

Vanier Park will host three vendors: Cup a Corn, Fijian Fusion, and Jim’s Ice Cream. Cup a Corn has been in operation at farmer’s markets and night markets since 2011 and sells steamed corn flavoured with wasabi ginger and peanut satay. The Fijian Fusion food truck creates spicy halal street food, while Jim’s Ice Cream offers novelty ice-creams.

Lemon Heaven, which sells fresh-squeezed lemonade, and Potato Tornado Shack, which is known for their curly potato chips on skewers, will both be located at Kitsilano Beach. Vancouver Beach Nuts, a popular food cart offering fresh coconuts, will return to Kits Beach and operate a second stand at English Bay.

All vendors are expected to roll into Vancouver parks by mid-June.
