Kitsilano’s  Hapa Izakaya (1516 Yew Street) has made some changes to take advantage of its prime location across the street from Kits Beach. The Japanese spot has rebranded itself Hapa Beach and now has a new Beach Bites menu ($5 to $13) of casual fare such as a feta-bacon salad, albacore sushi pockets, and Kobe beef sliders that’s available for takeout as well as on the 25-seat patio. In addition to its regular menu, the restaurant is featuring a creamy chicken-broth ramen ($7 to $10) for those up for a slurp. Hapa Hour, with specials like ebi mayo for $4.50, runs from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
