Mexican-inspired taco joint Tacofino—and first runner-up for best tacos in the city, as voted by Straight readers in our 2016 Golden Plates—has announced that it will be opening a brick-and-mortar stop in Yaletown this June.

The new counter-service restaurant will take the space formerly occupied by Saladworks at 1025 Mainland Street. It will operate similarly to Tacofino’s flagship location in Gastown, offering a full bar and dine-in and take-out services, plus a 16-seat patio.

The 40-seat room will be crafted by Vancouver designer Shiloh Sukkau, who is responsible for the look of Tacofino’s Gastown restaurant. As a result, Vancouverites should expect the same chillaxed, SoCal-chic feel that has become synonymous with the restaurant’s eccentric menu.

Tacofino’s new Yaletown restaurant is the fourth standalone stop for the Tofino-born company, which began as a food truck. It now operates three mobile eateries across the city, as well as restaurants in both Vancouver and Victoria.

More information regarding Tacofino’s new restaurant will be revealed once available. Follow the company on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates.
