Vikram Vij will cook at the opening-night party of the Indian Summer festival on Thursday (July 3) and the closing-gala dinner on July 12.

For people who want to learn more about India’s food culture, the fest is featuring Lunchbox Legends, which takes place next Thursday (July 10) at 6 p.m. at SFU’s Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (149 West Hastings Street).

The evening focuses on Mumbai’s dabbawalas, or lunch couriers, who deliver over 200,000 meals from clients’ homes to offices daily. Representatives of the Mumbai Tiffin Box Suppliers Association will explain the process with a film and a presentation about how the business side of the operation is efficiently organized.

For tickets ($25 plus service charge), see the Indian Summer Festival website.
