For all the Vancouverites who love a nice summer patio, there’s a new spot to check out in town.

Roof Garten (670 Smithe Street) is the latest addition to our patio-loving city, and is located in the space that was previously home to Skybar.

The pop-up patio officially opened on May 5, and will be serving up drinks and food items until November.

Guests walk on a plush faux-grass carpet before taking the elevator up to the third floor, where the garten (German word for garden) is situated.

As soon as the elevator doors open, you’ll be transported to a garden-topia that features floral, greenery, and wood elements.

The 120-seat space also has a champagne lounge, a garden patio, as well as a panorama bar. The corner of the soon-to-be summer hangout place will have a DJ spinning popular tunes, as well as musicians playing live music.

“We have designed a patio to enjoy with friends, and our menu will be all shared items,” said Jens Marquardt, one of the five owners of the rooftop eatery.

Brunch and dinner menus are available, so guests can expect to indulge in everything from a breakfast poutine to popcorn chicken and eggs, clams and perogies to steak frites.

For those who want something to nibble on while enjoying a glass of wine or champagne after work, try its signature RoofGarten Board—a selection of artisan cured meats, daily cheese, house pickles and preserves, and sourdough.

Special drinks include sangria served in a flowering pot, which is designed to be shared among friends.
