A new venue for a new decade.

The 11th annual Scotiabank Passions gala, which raises funds in support of the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation, will take place on September 14. After spending a decade at the Dr. Peter Centre in the West End, the event moves to the Imperial Vancouver (319 Main Street) this year.

The year-old event space in the Downtown Eastside provides a larger venue for the popular gala. This year the event features over 20 participating restaurants and chefs, including Joe Fortes, CinCin Restaurant + Bar, MARKET by Jean-Georges, Miku, Provence, Tojo’s, West, The Glowbal Collection, Cibo Trattoria, Maenam, Forage, The Observatory, Savoury Chef Foods, and Beaucoup Bakery.

New participating restaurants include Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar, The Fat Badger, Raw Bar at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, and Bella Gelateria.

Cocktails will be provided by Bittered Sling, beer from R&B Brewing Co., and wines from New Zealand Winegrowers.

“Scotiabank Passions is truly a spectacular evening for food lovers and philanthropists alike,” Nathan Fong, who is the committee chair and event founder, stated in a news release. “I am so excited to be entering the next decade of this incredible gala fundraiser, and none of it would be possible without loyal support from our chefs, restaurants, volunteers, sponsors and committee members.”

The event includes entertainment, as well as live and silent auctions. Global BC Morning News anchor Sophie Lui returns to MC the event and live auction with new MC Jonny Staub, a morning show host on The Beat 94.5FM.

All proceeds raised benefit the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation, a Vancouver-based non-profit that provides comfort care and resources for people living with HIV/AIDS. Passions has raised more than $1 million for the organization.

Tickets to Passions are $225 ($300 including champagne reception) when purchased before September 1 and $250 afterwards. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 604-331-5086.
