Gelato meets martini: gelatinis debut at Bella Gelateria

Bella Gelateria’s  just-opened Yaletown location (1089 Marinaside Crescent) is upping the indulgence ante. Not only does the gelato shop offer owner James Coleridge’s award-winning sweets, the 80-seat restaurant turns out Neapolitan-style pizza and “gelatinis”.

The latter creations add a scoop of gelato or sorbetto to cocktails, for those who like their drinks sweet or their desserts boozy. For example, the Raspberry Manhattan Isola ($12) combines raspberry sorbetto with the classic whisky and vermouth drink, as well as a dash of dark chocolate bitters.

There are currently 12 gelatinis on offer, along with changing seasonal selections.

The Texas Grind combines Texas pecan, vanilla, and sour cherry gelato with Absolute Vodka, Grand Marnier, and more.
The Matcha Smash with green tea gelato, Absolute Vodka, and Green Chartreuse.
