Studio Ghibli one of few film-themed sips fit for laughs

The Vancouver TheatreSports League is joining the summer blockbuster circuit with a series of improv’d performances—you supply the genre, characters, and plot; they’ll provide the laughs—and the bar at the Improv Centre (1502 Duranleau Street) is getting in on the fun, too.

Check out The Big Picture: An Improvised Movie show on any weekend from now until August 27, and you’ll be able to sip one of four fitting house cocktails. The whisky-spiked Walk of Fame (pictured centre) and lime-green Yes Oui Cannes (right) pay tribute to two well-known genres, but our pick is the Studio Ghibli.

Made from sake, Japanese plum wine, and merlot, it’s an ode to the legendary animation house and one of few Japanese sangrias you’ll find in the city.
