Watch Super Bowl XLIX at these Vancouver restaurants and bars

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Super Bowl XLIX takes place Sunday (February 1) with the Seattle Seahawks facing the New England Patriots at 3:30 p.m. While most Vancouver fans won’t make it down to Glendale, Arizona, for the big game—or to Seattle, for that matter—many local restaurants and bars will be hosting Super Bowl parties for NFL supporters to enjoy. Because of Vancouver’s proximity to Seattle, expect a strong 12th Man presence at the majority of these venues. Whether you decide to sport a jersey with “Wilson” or “Brady” on game day, early reservations to the Super Bowl parties listed below are recommended unless otherwise noted.

      Tap & Barrel

Both locations of the Tap & Barrel (1 Athletes Way; 1055 Canada Place) will be showing the Super Bowl. During the game, restaurants will have $6 Phillips Blue Buck beer specials and $10 pizza specials. In addition, for every Phillips beer that is purchased, the customer’s name will be entered into a draw at half-time for a chance to win Seahawks jerseys, Phillips Brewing Co. swag, and a two-night trip for two to tour the brewery in Victoria.

      The Charles Bar

Reservations are full at the Charles Bar (136 West Cordova), but early walk-ins are still encouraged for small groups and individual diners. The party starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Gastown restaurant, and attendees can expect to enjoy prizes throughout the afternoon as the game is shown on the Charles Bar’s big screens. Buckets of Coors for $15 will be among the food and drink specials.

      CRAFT Beer Market

If you’re in the Olympic Village area, enjoy the game with other fans at CRAFT Beer Market (85 West 1st Avenue). The restaurant will offer brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, with beer specials and $9 appetizers after 3 p.m. Big TV screens and high ceilings in the restaurant means that every seat has a good view, and with over 140 beers on tap, there’s something for everyone.

      G Sports Bar and Grill

If size matters, G Sports Bar and Grill (1208 Granville Street) has a nine-foot projection screen in addition to 24 high-definition TVs. On Sunday, doors will open at 9 a.m.—yes, more than six hours before kickoff—so that fans can fuel up on brunch before the festivities begin. Beer specials ($4.75 per pint) and prizes during the Super Bowl will help keep the party going.

Red Card Sports Bar + Eatery

While Red Card (560 Smithe Street) usually doesn’t open until noon each day, the restaurant will open its doors an hour early, at 11 a.m., on game day to accommodate the throngs of fans expected. Beer specials, such as $4.99 Budweiser and Alexander Keith’s, complement Red Card’s menu, which focuses on classic pub grub with an Italian twist. During the game, diners will have the chance to win Canucks tickets, gift cards, sports jerseys, and a TV.

      The Pint Public House

The Pint Public House (455 Abbott Street) recently updated its Facebook cover photo to the Seahawks logo, so it’s safe to assume that Seattle fans will dominate this Gastown restaurant on Sunday. A $12 “hangover brunch” will be served until 2 p.m.—ideal for sports fans planning on enjoying a couple of beers during the Pint’s UFC 183 viewing the night before—and $4.50 pints of Budweiser will be on special all day.

      Score on Davie

Score on Davie (1262 Davie Street) plans on using Super Bowl weekend to build on their reputation for creative Caesar garnishes. The restaurant will roll out two new cocktails—a chicken and waffle Caesar and the PPM&C Caesar—on game day. The chicken and waffle Caesar is topped with buttermilk-fried chicken sandwiched between two waffles and a stack of onion rings, while the PPM&C stands for pulled pork, mac and cheese (which are rolled into balls and then deep-fried). Enjoy either one of these beverages while cheering on the ‘Hawks or Pats on one of Score’s many TVs.

      Darby’s Public House

For football fans in Kitsilano, Darby’s Public House (2001 Macdonald Street) will be hosting a Super Bowl party. Features include a tailgate menu of chili, chili cheese fries, burgers, and nachos, as well as $5.50 pints of local Steamworks Brewing beer. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the restaurant’s brunch menu will be served until 4 p.m. that day. Prizes, including Seahawks and Patriots jerseys, will be given out during the game.

      The Lamplighter Public House

While reservations to the Super Bowl party at the Lamplighter Public House (92 Water Street) are now closed, walk-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors to the Gastown pub open at 11:30 a.m., and fans can participate in a pre-game Madden NFL tournament before kickoff. A special Super Bowl menu that includes nachos, spicy beef chili, and pulled-pork sliders will be available that day. The Lamplighter will also offer a $30 all-you-can-eat burger special. Although there will not be any happy hour specials on Sunday, customers can take advantage of $4 pints of Granville Island lager and $8 Caesars with a DIY Caesar garnish bar.

      The Blarney Stone

The Blarney Stone will host one of the city’s larger Super Bowl parties. The Gastown restaurant’s festivities include a pig roast and tailgate party starting at 1 p.m., with prizes and NFL related activities scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening. Food and drink specials include $15 steak and prawns, $13.50 pitchers of Budweiser, $20 buckets of Bud Light, and $4 Caesars. Advance tickets for $20 can be purchased online and includes two pints of beer, a pig roast platter, and priority seating.

      The Regal Beagle

A Super Bowl party in Kitsilano will have a touch of star power. Prevail from local hip-hop group Swollen Members will host the event at the Regal Beagle (2283 West Broadway), which gets started at 12 p.m. A pint-chugging contest, wing-eating contest, football toss, and trivia will keep fans entertained until kickoff time. During the party, $1 from every Okanagan Spring Brewery 1516 beer sold will be donated to Periventricular Nodular Heterotopia (PVNH) support and awareness.

      White Spot

While many people may not think to go to White Spot on Super Bowl Sunday, the B.C. chain restaurant’s newest downtown location at 405 Dunsmuir Street will be showing the game. Enjoy a Legendary Burger and Spot-sized beer for $15 while watching the game.

I wonder how welcomed you would feel if you just walked in to these places, and ordered a glass of water.

Where do the Patriots fans congregate? I'd rather be at their victory party on Sunday.
