Pan-Asian restaurant Oru Cuisine at Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel closes—with replacement on the way

The pan-Asian restaurant Oru Cuisine at the Fairmont Pacific Rim opened up in one of the busiest tourist periods this city has seen: mere days prior to the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Executive chef David Wong helped launched the restaurant before David Brown took over his role in 2015.

Dishes spotlighted local ingredients and spanned a wide-roving culinary range, from pho with Pemberton beef brisket to seared Qualicum Bay scallops with chawan mushi to tandoor-roasted B.C. spot prawns.

Unfortunately, the restaurant closed its doors at 1038 Canada Place forever on January 2.

However, a new restaurant concept by Ste. Marie Design and Glasfurd & Walker (who brought us some of the city's top-notch dining spots such as Kissa Tanto, Osteria Savio Volpe, and L'Abattoir) will soon take its place.

In the meantime, food service at the hotel continues at the Italian-influenced Giovane Café and Eatery as well as at the Lobby Lounge and Raw Bar.
