Photos: BETA5 Chocolates launch pop-up shop on Cambie Street
Chocoholics will be happy to know that BETA5 Chocolate’s has launched a temporary pop-up shop in the city (3345 Cambie Street) that will run through February 14.
Yes, that means you won’t have to trek all the way to Industrial Avenue for the chocolate shop’s popular set of seasonal sweets and cream puffs—those who regular its main location (413 Industrial Avenue) will understand that it isn’t so easy to access, especially by transit.
The pop-up will offer a range of products, including BETA5’s Valentine’s collection with chocolate flavours such as Chai black tea, Turkish coffee, sparkling raspberry, hibiscus-pistachio, Sriracha-sesame, and red velvet.
Its signature cream puffs will also be available, including flavours such as vanilla, salted caramel, raspberry earl grey, and the new strawberry jasmine.
The chocolate company also creates unique chocolate bars known as “polygon bars”, and collaborates with local companies to create special flavours. Its latest collab is with Matchstick coffee, which resulted in a flat white chocolate bar.
The temporary location isn’t too large, but guests are welcomed with an artsy vibe thanks to a colourful mural installation created by local graphic artist and painter Scott Sueme. After the pop-up ends, the mural will be relocated to its primary store.
When we asked BETA5’s founder and creative director Adam Chandler if there were plans to open up a second storefront, he elaborated that this pop-up was a way to test the waters.
“There are definitely plans to open a second retail location, and that may happen this year,” said Chandler to the Straight at the pop-up shop’s media event. “But if it doesn’t happen this year, we’re not going to push it.”
BETA5’s pop-up shop is open through Valentine’s Day (February 14) from noon to 7 p.m.
