5 places to indulge in macarons for Macaron Day 2017 (March 20)

      Who doesn’t love a sweet treat on a Monday?

      And because today is Macaron Day, a select number of pastry shops will be offering these pastel-hued French bites for a good cause.

      Here are five places participating in Macaron Day 2017 around town.

      Bon Macaron Patisserie

      Bon Macaron Patisserie (2823 West Broadway and 545-1689 Johnston Street)

      Specializing in sweet and savoury macarons, this pastry shop will be pulling its weight in honour of International Macaron Day. For every six pack purchased, customers will receive two free macarons. $5 from each six pack will be go toward a charity chosen by the customer. Some of its flavours include whiskey chocolate, goat cheese & fig, lavender, and Oreo.

      Faubourg (various locations)

      This will be Faubourg’s third consecutive year participating in Macaron Day. Each of its locations is selling its popular macarons for $1.50, and all proceeds will be donated to local charities. Its current macaron flavour of the month is lemongrass coconut—a blend of sweet and light flavours to make your taste buds happy.

       

      Butter Baked Goods

      Butter Baked Goods (4907 Mackenzie Street)

      This bakery shop is a pastel paradise that conjures up many sweet confections, including macarons. All proceeds from its macaron sales today will benefit Vancouver Hospice Society, so don’t feel guilty when you’re indulging in your treats. It is currently offering two special flavours: nanaimo (chocolate and custard) and apricot-pistachio.

       

      Soirette

      Soirette (1433 West Pender Street)

      In honour of Macaron Day, guests who visit Soirette today and donate to the Make a Wish Foundation (B.C and Yukon) will receive a free macaron of their choice. Its seasonal flavours include cherry blossom, springtime, breezy passion, and almond butter cookie. Some of its popular classic choices include Vancouver fog, pistachio, and salted caramel, and matcha.

       

      French Made Baking

      French Made Baking (81 Kingsway)

      The pastry chefs at this local bakery are whipping up some fun and creative choices for this year’s Macaron Day. Guests can marvel at macaron creations such as unicorns, Hello Kittys, pandas, and teddy bears—maybe you’ll think that they are too cute to eat. Its macaron sales from today will go toward B.C Children’s Hospital Foundation.
