      Mark your calendars, spot prawn-lovers.

The 11th annual Spot Prawn Festival is gearing up for its return on May 13, 2017 (11 to 3 p.m.) at False Creek Fishermen’s Wharf (1505 West 1st Avenue).

Presented by the Chefs’ Table Society of B.C., this free and family-friendly event will feature spot prawn cooking demos by local chefs, live music, kid’s activities, and more. Festival-goers will also be able to purchase fresh and live spot prawns directly from the boats.

But the main draw at the festival is the spot prawn boil—a highly anticipated ticketed food event that sells out quickly. Guests will be treated to a plate of three juicy B.C. spot prawns, paired with sides from Windset Farms, Grain, and Terra Breads.

Each ticket also includes access to the drink tent, which will feature samples from R&B Brewing and Evolve Cellars.

Early-bird tickets ($17.50 per person, plus tax and service fees) are available online, with four different time slots (11 a.m. to noon, noon to 1 p.m., 1 to 2 p.m., and 2 to 3 p.m.).

All proceeds will go toward the Chef’s Table Society of B.C.—a non-profit society that supports innovation and sustainable food programs, and aims to create a foundation for the exchange of information between chefs and culinary professionals.
