New Vancouver sweet spots: Lucky's Doughnuts, 49th Parallel, and L'Éclair de Génie to open downtown

Downtown Vancouver got a little sweeter when churro bakery La Churreria had its soft opening in the West End on April 10.

But there's more sugar on the way. Here are two more sweet spots to look forward to.

      Lucky love

Coal Harbour is getting lucky. As in doughnuts and coffee, that is.

49th Parallel and Lucky's Doughnuts will open their third location in the business district at 689 Thurlow Street (at West Georgia Street).

The 1,400-square-foot space will seat 35 people and is aiming for an August opening (though that is subject to change).

The coffee and doughnut shop, known for its ever-evolving range of doughnut flavours such as crème brûlée or lemon and raspberry Bismarck, has two other locations, one in Mount Pleasant and the other in Kitsilano.

      L'Éclair de Génie

      Paris patisserie

The much-anticipated L'Éclair de Génie will open its 25th location on April 29 at 1210 Robson Street. (The opening date was changed from April 22.) This will be the company's first North American spot.

The French pastry shop, which has locations in France, Italy, Japan, and Hong Kong, specializes in éclairs, having concocted a whopping 257 versions.

The Vancouver location will start with 10 flavours on offer, and introduce two new ones per month.

Stay tuned for more on this delectable spot.
