Alas, the perpetually packed Lolita's South of the Border Cantina has decided to call it quits.

Located at 1326 Davie Street, Lila and Jaison Gaylie opened the 42-seat Davie Village hotspot on a Pride weekend back in 2005.

The Mexican-inspired menu covered shared plates, such as Sinaloa-style ceviche and beef taquitos with house salsa, and entrées, from turkey tostada to a range of corn tacos, while the drinks menu included margaritas, cocktails, sangria, wine, mezcal, and an extensive collection of tequila.

The restaurant closed on April 8.

The West End eatery joins two other longstanding West End businesses that are shutting down.

Dover Arms Pub at 961 Denman Street will host its final party on April 23, after over 40 years in business.

The farewell party will include live music by Cannery Row from 1 to 3 p.m. and the Dover All-Star Band from 4 p.m. onward.

West Valley Market, which has operated at 1209 Bute Street (off Davie Street) since 1975, had its farewell party on April 13.

Meanwhile, other businesses continue to pop up, such as Pasture to Plate and Forkhill House Irish Bistro. 

Also, just as one Mexican spot has closed, the owners of Los Amigos Taqueria (1118 Davie Street) opened up La Churreria, a spot devoted to churros (Mexican donut-like pastries) and coffee, across the street at 1105 Davie Street (at Thurlow Street).

What's more, after temporarily closing for renovations in February, Moxie's Grill and Bar reopened on April 7 at 1160 Davie Street.
