According to Glowbal Restaurant Group marketing assistant Hailey Merkt, Italian Kitchen will relocate from 1037 Alberni Street to a new location on Burrard Street.

Merkt did not disclose the new address but said that it will be open by Christmas of this year.

The fine-dining restaurant has been at the Alberni location for 10 years.

Their menu focuses on classic Italian dishes, including pizza, pasta, fish, veal, lamb, and chicken, such as lamb chops with roasted eggplant caponata and olive jus, trout saltimbocca with truffled carrot salad, or duck confit gnocchi.

In January, the restaurant received Ospitalità Italiana recognition from the Italian government and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada West.

The area that Italian Kitchen is located in, also known as Luxury Row, has attracted numerous luxury brand companies and has undergone a number of changes, often involving rent increases.

Last July, Italian Kitchen owner Emad Yacoub (who also operates Coast, Black and Blue, and The Roof all on Alberni Street) told Business in Vancouver that his landlord informed him his rent would be doubling the amount he negotiated in 2007, which would consequently be unsustainable.

Kamei Royale closed its second-floor location at Burrard and Georgia streets (211–1030 West Georgia) on December 12, 2015, and reopened in Coal Harbour at 1066 West Hastings Street in June.

The move was the result of Tiffany & Co.'s expansion into a two-level space that took over Kamei Royale's former premises.

The area was once known as Little Ginza for the row of upscale Japanese shops catering to Japanese tourists during Japan's economic boom in the 1980s but have all since vanished, concurrent with Japan's economic recession.
