Steam Whistle Brewing and the Hudson’s Bay Company have teamed up to make your toast to Canada’s 150+ celebrations a tad more festive.

The longstanding Canadian businesses have produced a collection of bottle openers, coolers, coasters, and glasses decorated with the Steam Whistle logo and Hudson’s Bay’s iconic, multi-hued stripes.

The limited-edition line includes a metal bottle opener and accompanying tin ($10), a retro-inspired metal cooler ($175), Spiegelau crystal pilsner glasses ($40 for four), a wall-mounted bottle opener ($30), and paperboard coasters ($12 for 25) stashed in a matching tin.

The metal bottle opener is also available in specially marked boxes of six- and 12-packs of Steam Whistle Pilsner at select B.C. Liquor Stores and private liquor stores. (Look for the cases decorated with Hudson’s Bay’s green, red, yellow, and indigo stripes.)

According to the department store’s website, the coloured stripes have “special significance” for Canada’s First Nations people, who were customers of the company when it began operating fur-trading posts around the site of its namesake in 1670. Green symbolizes new life, red represents battle or the sport of hunting, yellow references harvest or sunshine, and indigo alludes to water.    

The stripes adorn a number of Hudson’s Bay’s heritage products, including its popular multi-stripe blanket.

Steam Whistle, meanwhile, is one of Canada’s leading independent breweries. It's been producing its award-winning pilsner in Toronto since 2000. “You can imagine our excitement at receiving Hudson’s Bay’s call,” said Greg Taylor, co-founder of Steam Whistle Brewing, in a media release. “We believe the collaboration will become an instant classic; a wonderful memento of our shared national pride.”
