Build your own edible inukshuk
Vancouver souvenirs are turning up everywhere—even at your local grocery store. One creative example spotted at Urban Fare (177 Davie Street): a build-your-own-inukshuk kit. The 180-gram package ($4.49) consists of a slab of maple-flavoured shortbread scored to break into individual cookies. Following the diagrams, you stack the biscuits into an edible inukshuk. While the cultural appropriateness of it all is questionable, it’s fun to balance the cookies until the structure inevitably falls down like a buttery Jenga game. They may not pack well for travel—a few of the slabs on the shelf were already broken—but it’s hard not to smile at the brand name: Inukie Cookie Co.
