Eat and drink like Francis Ford Coppola at Arts Club Theatre Company fundraiser
Whether you’re a fan of The Godfather or just a fan of fine wine, Francis Ford Coppola Winery holds a certain cachet. Located in Sonoma, California, the winery is owned by the famed director and his wife, Eleanor. It’s a popular stop on the wine trail for good reason: besides the standard tasting room and restaurant, it has a family-friendly swimming pool and movie gallery with memorabilia such as Don Corleone’s desk. (Hey, Coppola knows a thing or two about entertaining.)
But don’t let the fun stuff fool you: Coppola has some serious wines. Last year the winery won the USA Producer of the Year Award at the International Wine and Spirit Competition. So if you’re not up for a road trip just yet, there’s a chance to learn about the wines in Vancouver this Monday (April 30).
The last event of the 2012 California Wine Fair , this Food, Wine, and Adventure Dinner will pair four Italian courses with Coppola’s wines. It takes places at Q4 Ristorante (still at 2611 West 4th Avenue, but not for long) and brings in Lise Asimont, the director of grower relations at Francis Ford Coppola Winery. Featured wines include the Rosso & Bianco label’s Rosso Classico and Bianco Pinot Grigio, the Diamond Collection Gold Label Chardonnay and Black Label Claret, the Director’s Cut Dry Creek Zinfandel, and the Sofia Blanc de Blanc.
A fundraiser for the Arts Club Theatre Company, tickets cost $185 per person, and there’s just a few left. For info and tickets, see the Arts Club Theatre Company or call 604-687-5315 ext. 248.
