Joy of Feeding serves up comfort food across cultures
Sixteen home cooks from different ethnic backgrounds will be serving up their versions of comfort food at the Joy of Feeding event this Sunday (June 10). Co-organized by Vij’s Meeru Dhalwala, the afternoon celebrates how cooking nourishes families and builds bridges to cultural understanding. Dishes include everything from Vietnamese green papaya salad to Syrian kibbeh to Swedish cardamom almond coffee cake. A fundraiser for UBC farm, it takes place at 6182 South Campus Road from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets cost $50 (kids 13 and under are free with adult purchase) and include a recipe book with each cook’s story.
