La Taqueria’s tacos are kind to year-end wallets
With a row of window seats facing the street and commuters rushing to and fro, La Taqueria’s 2549 Cambie Street location gives you prime people watching along with your tacos—and a taste of a curbside stall in Mexico. The sunny joint is kind to year-end wallets: $7 buys four floppy veggie tacos, $9.50 buys four meat tacos. Of the veggie options, I enjoyed the rajas con crema, an oozy mix of roasted poblano peppers with creamed corn, sour cream, and Mexican cheese. For meat, my favourite is the de lengua—oh-so-tender braised beef tongue. If you’ve never tried tongue, this is a great introduction; you’ll wonder why you ever held back.
