Stella cherries
The fattest, blackest, crispest, juiciest cherries you'll ever taste are the Stellas grown at Elephant Island Orchard Wines in Naramata. Buckets have made their way into local restaurants; including the Five Sails (999 Canada Place), La Régalade (2232 Marine Drive, West Vancouver), Salt Tasting Room (Blood Alley), and Aurora Bistro (2420 Main Street); for chefs to conjure up desserts and preserves. Or try a glass of the luscious Stellaport port-style wine ($30 to $35 for 375 millilitres) made from the same cherries, from private wine stores including Liberty Wine Merchants in the Net Loft at Granville Island, where rumour has it a large basket of Stella cherries will be out for sampling.
