I Saw Yous

Hey New Brunswick!!

You had silver on your fingers, fingers on your hands, hands in the air, like you--almost--didn't care. But you did care. You were upset at the docile and still Vancouver crowd. (It's not always like that.) Your indignation was charming because I was in agreement. Your hair is blonde and straight, your dress was black and gracefully arc'ed. Me; short hair, kinda clean shaven, sneezed into my coat and you blessed me. Welcome to the left coast. I would be delighted to have you join me and a rotating roster of friends for live music, dancing, and other cultural shenanigans. I think you'd have fun.

Sleaford Mods at The Rickshaw

You were an instigator. Charging into the crowd in front of centre stage you blasted everyone one around and initiated the show-long mosh pit. I thought you were someone I knew because of the familiar brutality. Sharp elbows and a solid hit--didn't expect that from a hot woman with long dark hair and fringe (NO!, bangs!), a crocheted net top over some other orange-y/brown shirt and 70's jeans. I continued to wear a black mask all show and a black hoodie for part of it. I don't think you are from around here--and by "around here" I mean this planet--so get in touch with me because I'd like to learn more about where your kind gets their power. You may be my spirit animal.

Exchanging smiles and hellos DT carpark Richards/Robson

I was having lunch in my work Van (04/25, 11.45am) in the entertainment district carpark, at Richards and Robson. You walked past and I think you went to IGA or homesense. You were wearing black shorts with, I think, a grey sweater. You are gorgeous btw! When you came back through the carpark we exchanged hellos and smiles. I would love to buy you a coffee??

sexy married guy

You were at the Squarerigger pub in West Vancouver. You were wearing all black and were with one buddy. I kept finding myself looking over at you because I thought you were really adorable and had a very sexy vibe about you... Cute voice and gestures. However I didn't go over and talk to you because I saw you had a wedding ring. I'm posting this on the off chance you read this and can revel in the compliment. I am brunette and was wearing black jeans and a tan cardigan, having a beer with a guy friend.

Alberta Gal - Grandview Hwy

You were driving a maroon colored sedan, Alberta plates, blasting music with the windows down, short blonde hair, smoking a cigarette, tattoo on your left arm. We smiled at each other a few times before I turned left. Would love to see you again. Reply with whatever you remember about me.

Smiling Cyclist on a Side Street

You were on your bike on the corner of Dunbar and 4th, in a white cardigan, stopped at the red light. I was sitting drinking a coffee outside Aphrodite's and accidentally made eye contact. Your smile was so genuine, and so unexpected, that it caught me off guard. This week has been terrible, but you (inadvertently) made it a bit brighter. Not expecting you to see this, but on the off chance - thank you, I needed that. I regret that I was too nervous to say something.

I saw you twice. Round three, post-distancing?

I first saw you when I brought my dog in. You’d just left the desk as I walked up, taking my breath with you. Who are you?! Scrubs, stethoscope, blonde, those eyes, total babe. I was too distracted with my bestie’s predic to investigate further, and once she was sorted you didn’t make another appearance. I saw you again a week later when you brought her meds out to the lot for me. You were all masked up, but those eyes do most of the work. Be still my beating heart. I would normally have chat you up, but Covid-19 destroyer of flirtation, was already upon us. Maybe I’ll see you again.

Working near Burrard

I was working in front of a hotel, when you came from the street and asked for directions to the train. I asked where you were heading expecting you to say airport. You said Port something, so I showed you where Burrard Station was. As I was walking to the sidewalk I heard, “You’re hot, so I’ll follow you.” I couldn’t believe someone as gorgeous as you thought I was hot! Your name started with a J. You were (presumably still are) Caucasian, brown hair, black shoes, black jacket, blue jeans. I doubt you’ll see this, but if you do, could I maybe get a mulligan on meeting you so I can ask you for your number?

You liked my dog...a latte.

You politely asked to pet my dog outside of Moja. After introducing you to him, you both proceeded to comically take up the whole side walk while he tried to bully you into just giving him the treats. We spoke briefly about your late Portuguese Water Dog and Cat. You took out a hand rolled cigarette and asked for a light. I should have asked for your name and number at that moment. Instead, I obliged, became a bumbling fool, and upon receiving my light, my dog and I left. I stopped 3 times on the reminder of that walk and asked my furry companion if I should go back in an attempt to ask you for your number, but I decided to leave it up to fate. Here’s hoping you see this.
