The City of Vancouver's trans and gender-variant inclusion working group is set to hold a meeting to introduce its members to the community.

On October 28 at 7 p.m, a community meeting will take place at Trout Lake Community Centre (3360 Victoria Drive).

Chaired by Metha Brown and Drew Dennis, the eight-person working group plans to provide an overview of the process as it puts together a package of recommendations for the park board.

"The Working Group seeks to reflect and include the range and diversity of the trans* and gender variant communities to develop the most intersectional and inclusive recommendations possible," the Facebook event page states.

The group is looking for input regarding the following topics: signage and literature, washrooms and showers, human resources training and policies, and programming and partnerships.

Its other members are Gwen Haworth, Ayesha Ismail-Kanani, Theo Jakob, Danielle Jarvis, Kai Scott, and Blake Stitilis. Vision Vancouver's Trevor Loke is the working group's park board liaison.

Back in May, the city's park board approved a motion aimed at making Vancouver the "world’s most inclusive jurisdiction for trans and gender-variant communities".

The working group is expected to provide a report to the park board by April 1, 2014.
