7 retailers that joined Vancouver’s fashion scene in 2015

      Vancouver welcomed a lengthy list of new stores this year—particularly fashion retailers. Both local and international apparel stores opened its doors to shopaholics, contributing to the expansion of the town’s shopping scene.

      Here are some of the notable retailers that graced Vancouver in 2015.

      Simons (Park Royal South, West Vancouver)

      This Canadian-owned and -operated fashion franchise from Quebec opened at Park Royal in October and has been creating a buzz ever since. The 100,000-square-foot store features plenty of stylish items and in-house brands, decorated with artwork created by distinguished artists.

      Nordstrom (Pacific Centre)

      With one of the most anticipated store openings of the year, the U.S. retailer didn’t disappoint when it opened in September. The department store features three floors of fashion, footwear, and more, and shoppers have the option to relax in an upscale beverage lounge or sit-down restaurant after their spree. 

      The province's first designer outlet mall is located across from the Templeton Canada Line station, just minutes from YVR Airport.
      McArthurGlen Group

      McArthurGlen Designer Outlet (Vancouver International Airport)

      British Columbia’s first designer outlet mall opened in July and attracted thousands of people to be the first customers at stores like Coach, Armani, and Nike. This outlet is the McArthurGlen Group’s first in North America, and the new shopping hub will also open more luxury stores in phase two and three in the near future.

      Lightweight and quick-drying, the TecLayr men’s tee from Ryu also features a small sleeve pocket where you can stash a gym card or key.
      Ryu

      Ryu (1745 West 4th Avenue)

      This athletic-apparel retailer opened in November and offers items that are wildly different from Lululemon—Ryu provides sleek and high-performance gear for the multidisciplined athlete. The 5,600-square-foot Kitsilano store features timeless and advanced products, as well as a nutrition bar, patio seating, and an upper-level workout space.

      Frank & Oak releases twelve menswear collections a year, with a focus on classic designs that still feel modern and fresh.

      Frank & Oak (316 West Cordova Street)

      From its start as an online-only retailer to opening a Vancouver flagship store in December, this Montreal-based brand is known for trendy apparel that fits in between formal and streetwear. The store features a beverage bar and barbershop, as well as complimentary styling appointments. Shopping made easy for men.

      Moncler

      Moncler (748 Thurlow Street)

      This French-Italian luxury lifestyle brand that evolved from a line of protective camping equipment and coats opened its first storefront in Vancouver this month. It offers a wide range of goods in a French wood-panelled, marble-floor store, selling everything from chic apparel to footwear, and bags to leather goods.

      Wilfred (Pacific Centre)

      Many retailers seem to fancy an opening in the latter half of the year, and Vancouver’s second Wilfred boutique opened in November. Part of Aritzia’s North American expansion, the new 3,900-square-foot store features the brand’s signature feminine pieces. The store also showcases interior designs with earthy elements and artwork from local artists.
