The elusive C.P. Boyko joins Kathy Page for dual book launch

Vancouver-based short-story writer and satirist C.P. Boyko has done what he can to hang back in the shadows, hoping this will leave the spotlight to his rich, funny works. The Straight ’s own profile of him last year, not long after the release of his widely admired collection Psychology and Other Stories, found him “cautious, even cagey, about basic biographical information”, and his own publicist has admitted he’s “not the easiest author to work with” when it comes to media releases. But the man himself will be present in a well-lit room when his latest volume, Novelists, gets launched at 7 p.m. Tuesday (April 29) at the Cultch.

Alongside Boyko will be Salt Spring Island’s Kathy Page, launching her own resonantly imaginative collection Paradise & Elsewhere, which adds to a distinguished CV that includes the 2002 Orange Prize–longlisted novel The Story of My Face.
