It may be more important to men than women that a potential partner has a job.

That's one of the conclusions of those who participated in a romance and sex survey on Straight.com.

Sixty-one percent of men stated that it was "very important" that a potential partner was employed

That compared to 59 percent of women who stated that this is "very important".

It's Just Lunch Vancouver—the world's #1 personalized matchmaking service—partnered with the Georgia Straight in presenting the results.

The survey was conducted late last year and earlier this year, attracting thousands of responses to individual questions.

A higher percentage of men than women also stated that it was "very important" that a potential partner is financially successful: 14 percent of males and 11 percent of females responded that way.

For both sexes, it's important that a potential partner appreciates diverse cultures, as well as food and wine.

Below, you can see how men and women answered questions about a first date and desired attributes in a partner.

Responses came from people 18 years and older. More results will be posted on Straight.com leading up to Valentine's Day.
