Yes, we know--as soon as you land in Hawaii, you're probably going to want to have a mai tai. But once you've got that out of the way, there's plenty more to explore on Maui's beverage scene. Here a few options available in Ka'anapali to get your started.

Demand for craft beer has grown on Maui, and while crisp lagers quench your thirst, seek out Maui Brewing Company's Black Rock Lager (above). The beer was created especially for the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa in honour of that hotel's nightly cliff-dive ceremony. A dark lager with 25 IBU, it's available at the Sheraton Ka'anapali and on tap at Maui Brewing Co.s brewpub at Kahana Gateway Center.

      Kona Brewing Longboard Lager
      Carolyn Ali

Kona Brewing Company's flagship brewery is in Kailua-Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island, not Maui, but you can find their products in Maui stores. The Longboard Island Lager is a smooth, refreshing brew, and you've got to love the label with its Liquid Aloha attitude.

Mahana La at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa

This is one cocktail that bites you back! The Mahana Lā, which means "hot sun" in Hawaiian, is made of local Ocean Vodka, muddled Maui Gold pineapple, Hawaiian chili pepper, and passion fruit puree. It's rimmed with li hing mui (Chinese salty plum) and has a basil leaf garnish. It's a delicious, slow sipper. Find it at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa

Summer Breeze at Sangrita Grill and Catina

In a strip mall bordering the golf course in Ka'anapali, Sangrita Grill + Cantina turns out high-quality Mexican fare made by a chef from Mexico City. The cheery bar boasts the island's largest artisinal tequila and mezcal selection, and specializes in handcrafted cocktails like this Summer Breeze. This drink refreshes with Sauza Blue tequila, fresh watermelon, lime juice, and mint.

Hokalani (Heavenly Star) at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa

The Hokulani (Heavenly Star) is a creation of Freddie Sconfienza, who is a mixologist at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa. It's based on Pisco and St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, with lime juice and blueberry white tea simple syrup.
