In February, the Georgia Straight reported that the Eastside Flea had found a permanent home in the Ellis Building (1024 Main Street). At the time, the 1920s heritage building, though charming, was in desperate need of renovation.

This morning, we took at peak at the now-revamped space for a preview of this weekend's Eastside Flea event: a market showcasing the artwork, knick-knacks, collectibles, and second-hand treasures of local artisans and retailers.

After months of painting, drywalling, and rewiring, the 8,709-square-foot building has been transformed into a functional and inviting space with vendor and retail floors, artist studios, a stage, and a spacious outdoor area connected to both Station and Main Streets.

This weekend, it will host more than 50 vendors selling vintage clothing, vinyl records, oddities and rarities, handmade jewelry, and more.

The Eastside Flea's grand opening will take place this weekend (April 15 to 17) from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday's event, the Shop 'n' Bop, will feature cocktails, deejays, donuts, ginger beer, and Tacofino tacos.

On Saturday and Sunday, Tacofino and Mom's Grilled Cheese food trucks will be located in the alley behind the building.

Admission for the all ages event is $3. A weekend pass is $5.
