Alt-pop chanteuse Hannah Georgas and indie-rock supergroup Mounties are scheduled to headline this year’s edition of Vancouver’s wildly successful Khatsahlano Street Party.

Organizers made the announcement this afternoon, also promising the 10-block event—and legitimate summer tradition— on July 9 will include yoga classes, cooking demonstrations, and a mixology competition featuring West 4th Avenue bartenders.

Those convinced that clothes make the man—and woman—can look forward to Vancouver Fashion Week showcases, while shoppers can expect samples and sales from the street’s restaurants and stores.

Returning will be the Family Zone, Food Truck Way, and Mill Street Beer Gardens.

Past Khatsahlano parties have given the city epic sets from the likes of the Poppy Family, Yukon Blonde, and the Evaporators.

Vancouver institution Zulu Records has once again curated this year’s lineup, which also includes We Are the City, Jasper Sloan Yip, Woolworm, Gang Signs, Malcolm Jack, Noble Oak, Kash Honey, Mesa Luna, and White Poppy.

Also performing will be such Straight faves as Rodney DeCroo, Jody Glenham, Twin River, Hot Panda, MU, and Holy Hum. (For the full list, go here.)

Georgas was featured in the Georgia Straight in 2013 after the release the electro-pop earworm Hannah Georgas, a record which found her minding turbulent times in her private life for inspiration. The Vancouverite will release a new record, For Evelyn, this summer.

The Mounties made the cover of the Straight in 2014 after music veterans Ryan Dahle, Steve Bays, and Hawksley Workman banded together to make one of the year’s great records, the wildly eclectic Thrash Rock Legacy.

Vendors and merchants can apply to be part of the party until June 1 at khatsahlano.com.
