B.C.’s second Ted Baker London shop opens tomorrow (July 1) at the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet (1000–7899 Templeton Station Road) in Richmond. It joins more than 60 retailers currently operating at the blowout shopping destination.

The store will carry the British brand’s fanciful mens- and womenswear collections, as well as its full range of accessories, which includes bags, sunglasses, jewellery, and footwear.

Like its Pacific Centre location, the new Ted Baker will adopt a design that pays homage to Western Canada’s rustic heritage. The 2,636-square-foot space is inspired by English sailor John Deighton—perhaps better known to locals as “Gassy Jack”—who opened a whiskey saloon in Vancouver upon arriving by ship during the late 1800s.

As a result, shoppers can expect plenty of wood elements and walls decorated with rope, bells, window shutters, and port holes, which are meant to mimic a below-deck setting. A custom tile pattern surrounding the cash area will evoke the saloons of days past, while an eccentric palette of teal, orange, and gold will remind whiskey drinkers of the bottles lining their liquor cabinets.

For its opening weekend—which just happens to coincide with McArthur Glen’s Canada Day yoga event—Ted Baker will be conducting giveaways and offering whiskey caramels as gifts with purchase. Branded whiskey stones will be complimentary to those who spend $300 or more.
