Anine Bing is the kind of person that you either want to be or be best friends with, and hers is undoubtedly the name that you need in your closet this fall.

The model turned blogger turned designer’s self-titled collection is now available at Holt Renfrew in Vancouver, and offers an eclectic mix of Europe-meets-L.A. styles in classic clothing and accessories.

When Bing arrives at Holt Renfrew on a recent Wednesday morning, she is the epitome of her self-described “rock-bohemian” style, sporting charcoal skinny jeans, studded ankle boots, a black leather jacket, and a simple white T adorned with a slight sparkle of delicate jewellery. Everything she’s wearing is from her latest collection, which is displayed on the back wall, an array of neutral tones like blush pink, grey, white, and black.

“Everything is classic, but with a little touch to it,” Bing explains in her lilting Swedish accent. Pointing out her favourite piece in the collection, a pair of grey skinny jeans ($199), Bing explains, “They just have the perfect fit and look really good on any body type… And I love the leather jackets ($1,099),” she adds.

As a model since the age of 15, Bing has certainly played her part in influencing the fashion industry, and got her start in design through several collaborations with other labels. That eventually led to the creation of her own line, started entirely by her and her husband in 2012 and now based in Los Angeles.

For inspiration, Bing says, “I look at myself and I just trust my own instinct, you know, what I need in my own closet….And if I love it, I hope and think and know that a lot of other people will too.”

With a large celebrity following, including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Heidi Klum, she seems to have the right approach.

“I love seeing my clothes on celebrities, but I also love just seeing a random girl walking down the street,” she tells the Straight. “I get so proud, you know, when I see anybody wearing my clothes. If it’s a mother walking with the stroller or if it’s Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, it feels amazing.”

The collection, which will be made permanently available at Holt Renfrew in Vancouver, is trans-seasonal, with new pieces popping up continuously. The fact the designs aren’t determined by trends is one of the many factors that set Anine Bing apart from the competition. “I just like going my own way with everything I do in life,” Bing notes with a laugh. “I’m a really restless person; I like when things happen all the time, and so I decided to just keep on adding new pieces to the collection.”

Standouts include a killer pair of moto jeans ($249), a classic fit blazer ($299), and an array of lace and silk lingerie ($69 to $159), all manufactured in Los Angeles and Europe. The remainder of the collection covers shoes, accessories, and more must-haves—with highlights, and ideas for wearing them, on her wildly popular Instagram (which boasts more than 190,000 followers) and Anine’s World blog.

The Anine Bing label has thus far been available at select Vancouver boutiques, with Holt Renfrew as the first major department store. “I hope all the women here in Vancouver are going to love it,” she says.
