      How fitting is this?

Minutes after B.C. Family Day gave way to Valentine's Day, a prominent local same-sex couple received a delivery of a very special kind of love.

Vancouver–West End MLA Spencer Chandra Herbert and his husband Romi became fathers to a baby boy today (February 14).

Dev Juno Chandra Herbert was born (by surrogacy) at 12:24 a.m. at B.C. Women's Hospital and Health Centre, weighing seven pounds and seven ounces.

The baby was born on the same day that the legislative session opened in Victoria with the speech from the throne.

The couple married in March 2010. Four years later, they were not permitted to adopt a child that they were planning on fostering.

"Who would step in and say I want to put up a barrier in the way of providing a loving home to a baby?" Spencer Chandra Herbert told CBC News at the time.
