The Trump International Hotel and Tower Vancouver (1161 West Georgia Street) officially opened today, with a heavy police presence and over a hundred protesters outside the building.

The Straight attended the tower’s grand opening press conference in the morning, where the Trump brothers and Tiffany Trump made an appearance.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, media were split into different groups and taken on a quick tour of the hotel.

Designed by the late Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, the “69 storey” building (which includes six levels of parking) features 147 luxury guest rooms and suites.

The new Trump Tower is also home to a number of dining, entertainment, and amenity options that will supposedly cater to the Vancouver crowd.

Drai’s Vancouver is the city’s first poolside lounge, which features two bars, and indoor pool that transforms into a dance floor, and an outdoor hot tub and lounge. The nearly 8,000-square-feet space will offer cocktails, shareable food, and music by world-class DJs.

Hong Kong-based Mott 32 is the hotel’s signature Chinese fine-dining restaurant, which recently had its soft-opening run. Designed by Hong Kong interior designer Joyce Wang, the 6,318-square-foot eatery seats 147 guests and offers a Cantonese menu with Beijing and Szechuan dishes.

The Spa by Ivanka Trump is the hotel’s boutique spa, which has four private treatment rooms, steam showers, a deep soaker tub, and relaxation area. Manicure and pedicure services are also offered.
