Vancouver-born comedian Nathan Fielder—a former special correspondent for This Hour Has 22 Minutes now best known for Comedy Central’s Nathan for You—is returning to his hometown this weekend to host the first-ever pop-up shop for his outerwear company, Summit Ice.

Located at 138 East Broadway, the temporary shop will offer Summit Ice’s unisex wind- and water-resistant soft-shell jackets ($109.99), T-shirts ($24.99), and tuques ($19.99). All proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre (VHEC).

While he is in town, Fielder will also present the museum’s board with USD$150,000 of Summit Ice profits. The money will help the centre forward its mission of raising public awareness of the Holocaust through anti-racism education.

Fielder, whose family is Jewish, founded Summit Ice in 2015 after seeing that local outdoor clothing and equipment label Taiga—a favourite of the comedian’s at the time—had previously published a tribute to alleged Holocaust denier and former B.C. journalist Doug Collins in one of its winter catalogues.

According to Summit Ice’s website, the comic and writer “immediately recognized a need in the marketplace for an outdoor apparel company that openly promoted the true story of the Holocaust”. He announced the VHEC as the startup’s beneficiary and began crafting woven soft-shell jackets that rival Taiga’s offerings.

Since then, celebrities such as Joseph Gordon Levitt, Ellie Kemper, and fellow Vancouverite Seth Rogen—who attended Point Grey Secondary with Fielder—have been photographed sporting Summit Ice gear. (We highly recommend reading the image captions on the startup’s gallery page.)

At the pop-up shop, Fielder will be offering Vancouverites free Summit Ice soft-shell jackets in exchange for new or used Taiga coats. “Deny Nothing” pins will also be available. Donations to the VEHC will be accepted for select outerwear and apparel while supplies last.

The Summit Ice pop-up store takes place this Sunday (March 26), from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about the shop, visit Summit Ice’s website.
