Local supersized board game–rental service unveils lineup of tickle trunks

      If you’ve attended events like the annual Celebration of Light or the Food Cart Fest—now known as the YVR Food Fest because details—you’ve perhaps spotted groups of strangers congregating around and carefully removing wooden blocks from a supersized tower. You’ve also perhaps heard the thundering sound of 52 blocks crashing to the floor once someone inevitably pulls the one that destabilizes them all.

      This 33-inch-high Tumble Tower—though you likely know a smaller version of the invention by a different copyrighted name—is one of many giant party games provided by local game-rental company Bonkers. Founded by event-planning pro Dani Vachon, the startup has been providing colossal ice breakers such as a five-foot-tall Four to Win, Yatzee, and checkers to various fetes around Vancouver since 2014. Now, it’s adding tickle trunks to its party-starting arsenal.

      Available for rental for large public gatherings and private parties, the trunks include costumes, props, and wigs that attendee can wear and share. Each chest comes with its own theme: Whodunnit, which includes luxe furs, moustaches, and top hats so you can dress up as your favourite Clue characters; Blast from the Past, which features psychedelic ’60s and ’70s garb; and Tight & Bright, which includes spandex and fanny packs that glow in the dark.
