Arc’teryx’s largest Canadian location to date is officially open for the business.

The North Vancouver–based outerwear and sporting goods company unveiled its impressive new storefront at 813 Burrard Street on June 10, joining a premier shopping district that now boasts a roster of fitness-oriented retailers like Nike and RYU.

Situated in the space that formerly housed fellow Canadian brand Le Château, the 3,200-square-foot space carries Arc’teryx’s full range of high-performance men’s and women’s outdoor apparel, gear, and accessories, including items designed for hiking, running, and mountain climbing. A warranty-and-repair bar will address client concerns related to Arc’teryx products, while a “dedicated community space” will play host to meetups between consumers and local outdoor organizations.

“This is our hometown and we want to make our brand even more accessible,” said Stephanie Jamison, Arc’teryx’s global retail marketing manager, in a media statement. “We want to create more intimate one-on-one relationships with our consumers and use our stores as hubs for the local outdoor community.”

As previously reported by the Straight ahead of the store’s opening, the design of the shop features zinc and granite elements, which are a nod to the North Shore Mountains and the Stawamus Chief. Wood and metal fixtures are featured prominently throughout.

Founded nearly 30 years ago on the North Shore, Arc’teryx now operates 16 stores across North America, including locations in Kitsilano, North Vancouver, and Whistler. It’s named after the Archaeopteryx, a bird-like dinosaur that is believed to have been amongst the first flying animals.
