Nowadays, photo booths have become ubiquitous at weddings, festivals, and corporate events. Their rise in popularity, and the innovation that keeps them at the forefront of event organizers minds, is best exemplified by , an industry leader in event entertainment and photo marketing experiences.

Unlike traditional box-style photo booths, TapSnap’s fully customizable, digitally integrated open-air kiosks make it the center of attention, drawing crowds of both spectators and participants. After snapping a few pics, guest get to add digital elemets to their photos, such as custom images and text.

Event organizers are also able to design custom backdrops and use a green screen on location with traditional hand-held props. Photos can then be printed immediately, emailed, or shared on social media directly from the kiosk. A commemorative digital album of all the images from an event can be made.

The TapSnap story begins with founder Scott McInnes, who started a company in the early 2000s specializing in the making and leasing of pay-per-use Internet stations for hotel guests. As technology advanced the company morphed into a wireless internet service provider for hotels.

In 2006, McInnes shifted the company focus again, this time to self-service DVD rental kiosks stationed within independent stores. But as demand for DVDs gave way to streaming services, McInnes sought new business opportunities and ideas.

Recognizing the growing popularity of photo booths, McInnes revamped the classic box-style photo booths into interactive, open-air and digitally integrated photo experiences. Launching TapSnap in July 2012, the company saw early success at weddings and smaller events as an entertainment alternative. Business grew rapidly within the first year, and by December 2012 the first franchise had been sold in Vancouver, B.C.

TapSnap kiosks began popping up at festivals, multiday conferences, and permanent installations were being purchased for long-term use. Popularity within the entertainment industry itself grew too. TapSnap instellations were placed in the green rooms of tv shows such as Dr. Phil and The Doctors, and appeared at the cast parties of tv shows The Big Bang Theory and Orange Is The New Black.

now has more than 160 franchises around the world, and has been recognized by Entrepreneur magazine as a Top 500 franchise for the past four years in a row. Working with companies such as NBC, Sketchers, and Juice Plus+, TapSnap has grown into an organization that helps companies increase brand awareness, retain and attract clients, and experience business growth through unique photo event experiences.
