Premium women’s label Marc Cain has opened its first Vancouver store at Oakridge Centre.

Headquartered in southwest Germany, the company produces a range of womenswear tailored for the 9-to-5 grind, weekends, black-tie affairs, and everything in between. It’s best recognized for its vibrant prints, European-made knitwear, and responsible manufacturing practices that forbid the use of real fur.

“Comfort is also key for us,” Stephen Belfer, managing director of Marc Cain Canada, told the Straight during the launch of the shop. “We want women to be comfortable, so there’s a lot of give and our fabrics are really luxurious.”

T-shirts and tanks start at $110, denim at $270, and outerwear at $710, though during a recent visit, it appears that prices are typically slashed. A small selection of workout wear, shoes, and accessories are also available in the 2,292-square-foot space.

This is the eighth Canadian location for Marc Cain. The brand also operates a store at Delta's Tsawwassen Mills. It joins luxury Swiss beauty boutique La Maison Valmont as one of Oakridge’s latest additions.

Launched in 1973, Marc Cain was originally founded as a purveyor of quality knitwear. It eventually expanded its production to include women’s coats, dresses, and blouses and now makes its knitted apparel through a 3-D process at its German office. It runs 221 dedicated Marc Cain stores around the world.
