H&M confirms designer collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela for fall 2012
Swedish clothing retailer H&M confirmed Tuesday (June 12) that its next designer collaboration will be with Maison Martin Margiela. The hotly anticipated collection will launch in 230 international stores, including Vancouver’s downtown flagship store (609 Granville Street) on November 15.
Maison Martin Margiela is a French clothing line known for avant-garde designs that was founded by Belgian designer Martin Margiela in 1988. Prior to starting his own line, Margiela worked at Jean Paul Gaultier and Hermès.
“The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further,” Maison Martin Margiela said in a news release. “We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.”
Two promotional videos, also released Tuesday, show the sketching of a darted wool sweater dress for women and a long car coat for men.
