Red Steel

Ubisoft's Red Steel is the first first-person-shooter game for the Wii platform. The script is terrible and the characterizations border on racist. You play as Scott, a personality-free character who must learn the ways of the samurai in order to save his fiancée from her yakuza captors. I'd hoped the motion-sensing Wii controls would make playing Red Steel novel if nothing else, but the response of the game to your movements–you use the remote to aim and fire and flail with your sword, and the Nunchuk to reload your firearms and move around the environments–isn't accurate. Even with practice, I found myself spinning in circles because the sensors got hung up . Love the idea, but the execution leaves much to be desired.
