Scrap Metal is a riotous top-down arcade racing game
Scrap Metal (Xbox LIVE Arcade; Xbox 360; rated everyone 10+)
Developed by Nick Waanders and Kees Rijnen at Vancouver’s Slick Entertainment, Scrap Metal is a riotous top-down arcade racing game. It takes place in a Vancouver-like setting; tracks include Awesomeland (the PNE, natch), Gastown, Coal Harbour, East District (a tin-shack shantytown), Wetlands (Stanley Park, anyone?), and Downtown (complete with the Wall Centre towers and the Orpheum Theatre). Race modes include standard races, elimination rounds, where the last cars are progressively removed from the race until only one vehicle remains, and derbies, in which the last car to get wrecked wins. You collect new rides by wrecking opponents and taking their scrap metal to your garage, where you can also upgrade and customize your vehicles. Play splitscreen with a friend, or go on-line to compete against up to three others. Easy to pick up and a blast to play, Scrap Metal makes for some fast and action-packed fun.
