VIWF's Incite series welcomes Alexander MacLeod
The Vancouver International Writers and Readers Festival’s new Incite series of live literary events continues next Wednesday (February 23), when Vancouver’s Steven Galloway (author of the best-selling 2008 novel The Cellist of Sarajevo) interviews rising Nova Scotian writer Alexander MacLeod, son of CanLit icon Alistair MacLeod. On the table will be Alexander’s debut short-story collection, the Giller Prize–nominated Light Lifting, with its suite of tales that seek hard truths in the factory- and strip-mall-dotted landscape of Windsor, Ontario, where the author was raised. The program also features Vancouver-based fiction writer and poet Théodora Armstrong, as well as Gabriella Goliger, reading from her novel Girl Unwrapped. The event is free and starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Alice MacKay Room of the Vancouver Public Library. For complete details, go to www.writersfest.bc.ca/events/incite.
