Your horoscope for January 6 to 13, 2011
“By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth.”
—George Carlin
It is so important to feel our way through life. Words alone can’t be trusted.
Without emotions, daily experience is dry and meaningless. Sunsets can’t inspire creativity, art becomes worthless, and reunited lovers will never feel passion. In fact, without basic empathy neither affection nor wisdom are possible. The heart, as always, points the way.
This week, all signs will witness a brief but obvious shift in romantic communications and private language. Friends, lovers, and close relatives may express themselves through actions or gestures, rather than the spoken word. Outbursts, last-minute cancellations, and mild confrontations may be a brief theme. Drama will be unavoidable.
Not to worry, however, as newfound confidence will signal the end of strained relations. For many of us, a recent wave of silent power struggles will soon evolve into passion, sensuality, and renewed trust. And after Saturday, relationships that are meant to stay in your life will begin to move forward very quickly.
Astrologically, there is a deep, emotional clearing taking place. If someone close trusts you enough to reveal their most private feelings, be sure to respond with honesty, compassion, and respect. There can be no better compliment.
To identify those not worthy of your trust, study actions rather than words. The heart will know.
Aries
March 21 - April 20
Image: Low in the evening sky, a colourful hot-air balloon.
Message: Moments of promise. Long-term relationships experience a brief but intense phase of renewal. Before mid February, romance will be either firmly established or redefined. All is well. Use this time to plan complex home adjustments or express withheld passion.
Taurus
April 21 - May 20
Image: Three lazy swans on the surface of a lake.
Message: Floating memories. Social enthusiasm is extremely important to loved ones. After Saturday, expect someone close to renounce yesterday’s patterns or ask for detailed advice. Home relationships will steadily improve. Respond quickly to all ideas and proposed celebrations.
Gemini
May 21 - June 21
Image: After a storm, a ship docking in a bay.
Message: Finding solid ground. Older officials are easily irritated by small mistakes. Tensions will be temporary, so not to worry. Do, however, avoid lengthy or detailed instructions. After Tuesday, social invitations will be intriguing. Expect gently seductive overtures from friends or coworkers.
Cancer
June 22 - July 22
Image: High overhead, a flock of chattering birds.
Message: Excited vitality. Over the next four days, colleagues will be open to suggestion. Watch closely for a brief period of acceptance or social belonging to arrive in all business relationships. Use this time to establish a team approach to difficult projects. Coworkers will appreciate your efforts.
Leo
July 23 - August 22
Image: A school of tiny fish rushing and swarming.
Message: Complicated progress. Carefully consider the sensitivities and opinions of coworkers. Previously hidden emotions will demand resolution this week. Areas of concern may be workplace seniority, respect from colleagues, or public reputation. Be receptive. Others need to vent their feelings.
Virgo
August 23 - September 22
Image: Deep in the woods, an ornate Victorian mirror.
Message: Private reflection. Friends and lovers leave behind a complex period of deep thought. Past romantic ideals, old memories, and outdated loyalties may all be involved. Encourage new social activities or group participation. Soon, loved ones will firmly commit to the present.
Libra
September 23 - October 23
Image: Hidden in a warm attic, a small and happy mouse.
Message: Safe haven. Romantic relationships need to be newly established as sensitive, passionate, or creative. Unattached Librans may encounter a rare or controversial invitation. Avoid unethical complications, if possible. Emotional proposals will require careful diplomacy.
Scorpio
October 24 - November 22
Image: Deep in space, a galaxy forming.
Message: Creative organization. Family discussions reveal important information. Someone close wishes to change their work commitments, short-term goals, or career aspirations. Encourage loved ones to avoid risk. Before February, unexpected advancement will trigger vital decisions.
Sagittarius
November 23 - December 21
Image: At the UN, five diplomats trapped in an elevator.
Message: Sorting it all out. Before next week, loved ones may challenge your daily commitments or social choices. Minor jealousies will reveal an important concern in a key relationship. Honest expression is healthy. Wait for others to fully describe their needs, ideas, or opinions.
Capricorn
December 22 - January 20
Image: In rehearsal, a ballerina dancing by a mirror.
Message: Pausing to reflect. Property matters are best left undecided for the next few days. Long-term investments, home expansion, or costly renovations will eventually work in your favour. At present, however, minor disagreements or vague contracts may strain family relations. Go slow.
Aquarius
January 21 - February 19
Image: A tray of freshly baked bread hot from the oven.
Message: Reward after effort. Home finances and lengthy family discussions work in your favour. Loved ones may address previously ignored money needs or complex practical decisions. Remain open to fast solutions. After Tuesday, physical vitality is low. Rest and pamper the body.
Pisces
February 20 - March 20
Image: A fat frog sitting on a large green lily pad.
Message: Enjoying the moment. Workplace flirtation will be highly distracting this week. Complex business relations, subtle comments, or unique invitations may create an unusual romantic choice. Age-appropriate relationships and private love affairs are accented. Stay balanced.

Astrology can't create perfectly measured scientific results, but there isn't anything much in that way that can be useful for social situations either, emphasis on social situations. And as it turns out lots of people have found it useful... a lot. So, lighten up.
Luckily one of my fav astrologers forewarned me that there would be outbursts and unavoidable drama this week and that mild confrontation would be unavoidable.
Kurt, I respect that you have enough trust in me to inadvertently reveal your private feelings in your response, however I don't trust your words and I think that your actions show that perhaps you are really searching for a meaningful understanding of what spirituality is and this is something important to you.
Anyway, that's what my heart says.
All jesting aside, I consider Spirituality to be a quest for meaning and the beauty is that unlike religion, we have freedom to find whatever makes sense to us. In that respect, I commend you Kurt, for finding what works for you.
Personally, my own journey of exploration has been a flexible one without a gps. Getting lost and graciously asking for direction(s) has been the most rewarding experience in my growth and in discovering my spirit - and it has never come from just reading a travel book.
BTW - I want to add a few redeeming words about Astrology. In North America it has been relegated to the fringes and mostly deemed as entertainment/fluff, however it is vastly complex and there is no end to the fantastic knowledge that can be gained. In India, where Astrology has a long history and is deeply entrenched, there are many universities that teach Astrology at the PhD level and a large % of the people from the poor to the most powerful don’t make any major life decisions w/o consulting an astrologer (hopefully not a corrupt one). You have to consult an individual natal chart to gain real insights.
