Getting it right—or making it right—is the task at hand as Mars and Chiron oppose. Demonstrating this point, we’ve seen plenty of backtracking and backlashing over the first week of Mercury retrograde.
Thursday’s new moon in Aries, occurring at 7:37 a.m., has been seeded by Mercury retrograde conjunct the sun. This illumination aspect is the informing peak of the cycle. Just after sunrise on Friday morning, Mercury backs out of Aries and revisits Pisces, where it will remain through the end of retrograde, which occurs on April 4.
This Mercury activation will work as the release valve for that which has been gathering steam and is now reaching its boiling point. The result can be scorching. On the other hand, Mercury’s retrograde tour through Pisces can act as a diffuser or dissolving influence. Saturday’s end of the road, force of the envelope, or cut-off measure puts a new play into immediate action.
Beyond the usual Mercury retrograde stay-alert-and-vigilant advice, do not under estimate the potent life-force of what you now experience and the choices you now face. For individual lives—and regarding our collective evolution, too—this moment represents a decisive intersection along the bigger picture timeline. In future columns, I will speak more on the rare Venus transit coming in June, but know a pivotal karmic play is already set in motion.
Aries
March 19 - April 19
The next couple of days will push your refresh button in some particularly striking way. Watch for a sudden outbreak, insight, eruption, or disruption. When passion, instinct, or emotions hit the hot spot, you are a powerhouse in action. Mercury’s backtrack into Pisces will serve to strip away the remaining illusion. You’ll soon discover what you have missed up to now.
Taurus
April 19 - May 20
While Thursday’s new moon lights up the behind-the-scenes back burner, Mercury’s backtrack into Pisces on Friday pilots the front-and-centre heating element. Expect to fill in a missing blank, find something that’s gone missing, or rekindle lost momentum. It’s not over yet. As is typical of Mercury retrograde, you’ll reconnect with someone who has recently dropped out of sight.
Gemini
May 20 - June 20
Watch for a flash of inspiration and a new angle to try. The next few days can set wheels in motion, perhaps unexpectedly so. Stay alert and seize opportunity while the iron’s hot. It could be gone in a flash. Conversely, the consequences of a misstep could see important ground lost. Mercury retrograde in mixed-bag Pisces can increase confusion and uncertainty.
Cancer
June 20 - July 22
If an easy route or out appears, take it. Aim to simplify your time, work, or obligations. Freedom opens the door to reward and more. Over the next few days, a new prospect could start to take shape. Keep open to the possibilities. Still, while Mercury continues in retrograde, take it one step at a time. Don’t project too far forward.
Leo
July 22 - August 22
The new moon puts even more on brew. Lightning strike Uranus can make it unexpectedly so. Mercury’s dip back into Pisces can cause added financial drain or emotional unravelling. When doubt or confusion strikes, step back and try not to let your imagination, vulnerabilities, or vices get the better of you. If the surf is clearly up, by all means catch the wave.
Virgo
August 22 - September 22
Mars in Virgo, continuing in retrograde to April 13, keeps you on a fast-track learning
curve. Do not underestimate the karmic implications of circumstances and relationships. What is animated now is critical and key to how you build it next. Thursday’s new moon in Aries, and Mercury’s backtrack into Pisces on Friday, serve to reboot this fresh-start chapter.
Libra
September 22 - October 22
Something new or unexpected is likely to get you all fired up. While it can be all consuming, it may be short-lived. Come the weekend, it will either fizzle out or pick up steam. Indulge yourself or loved one(s) on Saturday and Sunday. Mercury’s backtrack into Pisces can remove a block or doubt, shift a mindset, or diminish your emotional or physical resistance.

While Thursday’s instigating new moon can thrust a full-throttle switch, you should find that Mercury’s backtrack into Pisces will help you to synchronize well to the faster swing. Trust you can handle what’s thrust upon you. You can and you will. Beyond that, you can work it to your advantage. Stay accommodating and tweak it as the moment dictates.

Feeling stoked or provoked? They don’t call you hot stuff for nothing! Thursday’s sparking new moon ramps you up even more, so much so, you could be surprised at what was—and still is—churning inside of you. Mercury retrograde in Pisces is ideal for soul searching, creative conjuring, and taking time out. Let the river flow. Solitude is both healing and productive.

December 21 - January 20
When it hits, it does so all at once. When faced with the sudden or unexpected, address it immediately. By Saturday you should have it mostly covered and/or moved out of your way. Even though Mercury’s backtrack into Pisces can act as an intensity diffuser, the fire is still burning. Challenge and busyness continues.

January 20 - February 18
Fresh stimulus isn’t hard to find. In fact, it’s hot wired Thursday through Saturday. News, a communiqué, a hot game, or sudden match strike can light your fire. Also watch your driving speed and don’t be reckless with money, health, secrets, or safety. Mercury’s dip into Pisces increases emotional, physical, and psychic sensitivity. Susceptibility is also heightened.
Pisces
February 18 - March 19
A fresh perspective or challenge can suddenly capture your attention. Once it does, it will set your next play into immediate motion. Extending beyond its retrograde cycle, Mercury returns to Pisces from Friday through mid-April. You’ll gain a second chance or find yourself thrust onto a brand new page. Either way, the pace is fast.
