Started in 1986, this yearly festival features two rotating programs of six plays each night. Twelve works in total are presented by BFA and MFA writers of the UBC Creative Writing department within the writing for stage courses.

Our team of MFA producers (Justin Neal, Sasha Singer-Wilson, and Ramon Esquivel) then produce the faculty-adjudicated plays. Brave New Play Rites is a collaborative production with the student playwrights and emerging and established community directors, actors, and crew.
