Join John Reinder for a screening of “Cape Horn,” a film about his 2013 7-week voyage on a true square-rigged sailing ship across the Pacific from New Zealand to the Falkland Islands via Cape Horn. The ship 'Barque Europa' was built in 1911 in Germany and is rigged exactly as ships were rigged in the late 1800's. There are no winches or similar powered aids and all work is done exactly as it was in days of old. The film describes life below decks, on deck and aloft in the rigging. It also includes some exhilarating videos of sailing in the 'roaring forties' and the 'furious fifties'.
