Heaven, Hell & Somewhere In Between: Portuguese Popular Art
Museum of Anthropology at UBC, 6393 NW Marine Drive, Vancouver UBC’s Museum of Anthropology (MOA) is pleased to present the North American premiere of Heaven, Hell & Somewhere In Between: Portuguese Popular Art, on display May 12 – October 12, 2015. Curated by MOA’s own Anthony Shelton, this extraordinary collection—the largest of its kind in North America—will include an eclectic mix of graffiti and mural paintings, puppets, figurines, carnival masks, and more. Displays will reflect the national identity, history, and creativity of Portugal from a passing generation of great craftspeople, illustrators, and painters, as well as that of young urban graffiti artists working today.
