Why is the energy debate a debate? Does ‘Green Energy’ really exist? Perhaps it does but politics seems to keep getting in the way.

Come join us on Thursday, May 28th to be a part of the hot (or is it cool?) debate on BC’s real energy choices. We will be joined by special guests – community advocates for a sustainable energy future – Dr. Adrienne Peacock and Burrard Thermal’s long-serving Martin Cavin, P.E. (professional engineer).

After completing her Ph.D. in Zoology at UBC, Dr. Adrienne Peacock worked as a consultant to the Peace Valley Environment Association, while living in Fort St. John. She coordinated the evidence that was presented at the B.C. Utilities Commission Hearings in the early 80s, when the Site C Dam was rejected on economic grounds. Previously, she served on the boards of the David Suzuki Foundation, SPEC, the Georgia Strait Alliance, and was both member and board president for the West Coast Environmental Law Association. Adrienne also taught biology/ecology and environmental science at Douglas College for more than 20 years, and is an accomplished local wildlife artist.

Martin Cavin, a long-time resident of Port Moody, worked at Burrard Thermal for 24 years as a Power Engineer, retiring as a manager in Operations in 2013. Martin applies his practical knowledge letter writing to various newspapers and magazines that feature articles on Burrard Thermal.

Our venue, Gallery Bistro, will serve a vegetarian set menu (meat option available), along with a lighter fare. Please call 604-937-0998 if you are interested in ordering food and/or require a gluten-free meal.
