Join Room Magazine (www.roommagazine.com) for the launch of Room issues 38.2 "How We Relate" and 38.3 "Trespass". Featuring readings by: Leah Ranada, Cristina Vivani, Daniela Elza, and Jen Currin.

There will be an open mic near the end of the evening. The sign-up sheet will open at 6:45pm, and each open-mic reader will have up to five minutes. Spots are limited so arrive early!

About The Readers

Leah Ranada had been writing fiction in the Philippines before she moved to Canada in 2006. She attended The Writer's Studio at SFU in 2013. Leah is working on her first novel, which is about a Vancouver-based immigrant hairstylist. She also writes the blog for Emijoys, her sister's online bakeshop. Leah won 2nd Place in Room's 2014 fiction contest.

Cristina Viviani is the author/poet and photography of the book Tafoni Natural Design and Weathered Stones (18Karat, 2008). Cristina is enrolled in The Writer's Studio at SFU. She lives in Lion's Bay, BC. Her poetry manuscript, Intermediary States, is in circulation.

Daniela Elza has contributed to over 100 publications internationally. Her poetry collections include: the weight of dew (Mother Tongue, 2012), and mile tooth bane bone (Leaf Press, 2013). Daniela was the 2014 Writer-In-Residence at the University of the Fraser Valley, and the recipient of many awards. She lives and writes in Vancouver.

Jen Currin is the 2015 poetry contest judge for Room, and recently contributed a short story to issue 37.1. Originally from Portland, Oregon, Jen has lived in East Van for thirteen years. She rides her bike nearly everywhere and has gotten better at growing vegetables in her community garden plot. Jen teaches writing and literature at Vancouver Community College and Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She has published four books of poetry, including The Inquisition Yours, which was a finalist for three awards and won the Audre Lorde Award for Lesbian Poetry in 2011; and School (Coach House, 2014), which is currently a finalist for the Pat Lowther Poetry Award and the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize. Jen is currently at work on a book of short stories.
